Soccer
I am sure most of us have a favorite sport, my favorite sport is soccer! Today I will be going over the basic rules, positions, the origin, and basically what I think about the sport. Enjoy!
Soccer was invented in London, England in 1863. 1863 is the year when all the rules for soccer were established but if we go take a look into the history of soccer, it goes about 2,000 years back. Soccer was a popular sport in ancient China, Greece, Rome, and parts of Central America. Didn't know that did you?
Now we will talk about the different positions in a soccer game. There are 11 players on a team and each one of them have certain positions they are assigned.
First we have the forwards, also known as the attackers, then we have the midfielders, followed by the defenders, and at last the goal keeper. As you can see in the diagram above, there are three attackers, three midfielders four defenders, and one goal keeper. The attackers are the ones who take the ball into the opposing team's side of the field. Midfielders are the ones who also take the ball into the opposing team's side, but they also defend. Defenders mainly keep the attackers and midfielders from the opposing team away from the goal. The goal keeper's job is to prevent the opposing team from scoring a goal. Soccer players cannot touch the ball with their hands, but goal keepers have an exception. If a players from the opposing team tries to score on them, the goal keeper can catch the ball.
Soccer is more than just scoring goals, there are also many tricks and moves you can do with a soccer ball just for fun! Juggling, v-pull, and the rainbow flick are among the most popular.
I think soccer is a very fun sport and everyone should give it a try. Soccer requires lots of practice, but in the end its worth it. Believe it or not soccer is the most popular sport in the world. Soccer is a widely played sport in Latin America, Europe, South Asia, and the Middle East.
If you enjoyed my review on soccer, I will consider writing blog post about some of my favorite soccer players soon. Now get out on the field and have some fun!
